Jarryd Hughes is an Australian Olympian and Boardercross athlete. He is the youngest ever winner and the first Australian male to win a Gold Medal at the Winter X Games. He is part of an elite snowboarding group of Aussies taking on the world. Along with Scotty James, Belle Brockhoff, and Alex Pullin, Jarryd is one of the few Aussies with big wins and regular podium finishes. Come February 2018 Australia and Snowboard.com will be cheering him on for a win at PyeongChang for the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea. Jarryd also got voted in to our Top 10 Hottest Male Olympian Snowboarders. Check it out HERE.

Jarryd was kind enough to come and hang out with Snowboard.com for an interview and burgers. It makes it easier he doesn’t live far from our office. Love your work and thanks Jarryd!

This is a much easier interview for you to enjoy – it’s all filmed so you don’t need to read that much. Kick back and watch one of the most fun interviews we have done.

Jarryd Hughes burst onto the FIS Snowboard World Cup in 2012 as a 16yr old with a 10th place at the Stoneham World Cup in Quebec Canada. Since his debut he has gone on to win a Gold and Silver Medal at the FIS Junior World Championships, win the Lake Louise World Cup in 2013, represent Australia at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics and just, you know, win at Winter X Games.

Whilst still one of the youngest athletes on the World Cup Tour, Jarryd has been a consistent performer in the Top 10 on the World Cup Circuit and was the youngest ever World number one.

In January 2016 Jarryd won Gold in the Boardercross event at X Games in Aspen Colorado making him the youngest ever winner and the first Australian male to win a Gold Medal at Winter X.

When not racing in Boardercross Jarryd enjoys his freestyle riding and shredding POW and lives in Sydney Australia, where he will be found skating somewhere or most likely bench pressing small vehicles in a gym.
